Named after the painting by Théodore Géricault, the film goes back to 1920s Yugoslavia, where Serbian and Slovenian avant-garde artists journeyed through small towns and villages to declare the new times and announce their manifesto. Director Karpo Godina’s film, beautifully written by Branko Vučičević, is a truly rare cinematic rendition of the Dada era ….with a Balkan twist.
