Synopsis
An extraordinary debut film by a young
filmmaker from Spain, Tunnel’s End is a documentary that investigates
the key factors which led Bosnia-Herzegovina first to war in the 1990s and
subsequently into the social and political paralysis the country is suffering
today. The film steers clear from making the case for one side or the other;
instead director Lleó presents a comprehensive and complex view of
contemporary Bosnia-Herzegovina through extensive interviews with politicians,
human rights activists, journalists, artists, and war survivors from all
ethnic groups. The result is stunning: through many voices the film draws
a map of the war and its aftermath as seen from all angles.

Director Mónica Lleó
Mónica Lleó was born in 1966. She is a graduate of the University
of Madrid with a degree in information science, specializing in image and sound.
Since then she has worked as a photographer for a variety of newspapers and magazines,
including El Europeo, Vogue Espana, Marie Claire, Man, Cambio 16, Diario 16,
El Gran Musical, Donna, La Mirada, El Pais Semanal, Ostra Delta, Revelde Discos,
Soledad Lorenzo, Museo Marugam Hirai (Japan), Via Digital, and El Periodico.
From 2003 to 2004 she worked on a project entitled “World Subways” – a
photo tour of subways in 13 cities: Buenos Aires, Mexico, New York, Tokyo, Seoul,
Pyongyang, Cairo, Moscow, Berlin, Paris, London and Madrid. In 2007, Lleó cofounded
the production company 0.05KM Production S.L. Tunnel’s End is her first
feature-length documentary.
