Synopsis: This
film explores the idea creating hybrids, or humans coming into
existence through genetic manipulation and the use of animal donor
organs. This new type of science that develops - the science of
artificial life – entails a range of new ethical questions that are
raised in this wonderful, thought-provoking film. ZOOGEN is a
subjective artistic vision of the relationship between humans and
animals.
Director Dan Oki Dan
Oki is a media artist and film maker, Dan Oki’s work ranges from
experimental cinema andvideo installations to feature length art
cinema. In his works he focuses on hybrid film forms, visual
narrativeand experimentation.
Dan Oki studied Film and Video at
De Vrije Academie in Den Haag He completed his graduate studies in
Media Arts at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem and his
postgraduate studies in Film Directing and Screenwriting at the Maurits
Binger Film Institute in Amsterdam. Dan Oki is an Associate Professor
of Film and Video Arts at the University of Split Arts Academy and the
University of Zagreb Academy of Drama, and has taught as a visiting
professor at many academies in Europe. He lives and works in Split,
Croatia. He has presented his films and gallery-articulated works in
Europe, North and South America, and Asia, and is a recipient of
several prizes for his work.
