medal), Bill Johnson (the first American to win an Olympic downhill
event), Debbie Armstrong (the first American woman to win a gold medal
in skiing after 32 years, since Oslo 1952), Torvill and Dean (United
Kingdom skating couple who earned across-the-board perfect 6.0 scores
in free dance competition, a feat that, as of 2009[update], has yet to
be matched), Lamine Gueye (from Senegal, the first African skier
to compete in the Winter Olympics), world-class athletes from 49
countries and the citizens of Sarajevo.
Synopsis With
original footage filmed on Olympic venues in Sarajevo in 1984 the film
depicts the legendary moment in time when a small Bosnian city of
Sarajevo proudly marched onto the world stage as the host of the XIV
Winter Olympic Games. The SEE Festival pays homage to athletes and to
Sarajevans on the 25th Anniversary of these historic Games, courtesy of
producer Jalbert Film International.
Director Kim Takal Having
previously worked as cameraman on sports movies Kim joined Jalbert crew
in 1984 to direct the Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo, where he also
operated one of several camera units. Subsequently he lensed and
provided technical advice for “Going for the Gold: The Bill Johnson
Story” (1985), and co-directed “Robots” (1988) based on Isaac Asimov’s
novels. He is currently president of Reality Pictures in New York,
specializing in corporate communications programs.
Production Company Jalbert Film International, JPI For
almost 40 years JPI has been a leader in sports television and film
production. Jalbert Productions was conceived during the filming of
“Downhill Racer”, a 1969 feature film for which Joe Jay Jalbert
provided technical direction, stunt skiing and POV camera work. In 1970
Jalbert founded JPI and has since made countless TV programs, specials,
series, documentaries, ad campaigns, web videos, short form, long form,
and everything in between.
