MINES
TO VINES
USA/Croatia, 2008, PSA 12 min
Directed/Produced by: Diane Baker
In the war-torn regions of Croatia the San Francisco-based
Roots of Peace has funded clearance of nearly 500,000 square
meters of land, removing over 50 landmines and unexploded
ordinance in collaboration with the International Trust Fund
of Slovenia, U.S. State Department, Adopt-a-Minefield and
the Croatian government’s demining organization (CROMAC).
About Root of Peace
Founded by Heidi Kühn, Roots of Peace works to unearth
dangerous landmines in war-torn countries and empower the
local communities scarred by these inhumane weapons. Working
to build sustainable crops on land once too dangerous to
traverse, the organization transforms the scars of conflict
into the roots of peace. It is active in the following
countries: Angola, Cambodia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Croatia.

based on Barbara Taylor Bradford's A Woman of Substance,
which received and Emmy nomination for Best Miniseries.
